After the success of the Golmaal trilogy, director Rohit Shetty is set to explore actor Shah Rukh Khan’s comic timing in his new project Chennai Express.
Shetty says, “It’s too early to talk about that film, since we are still in the planning stage. The film will have lots of comedy, some action and some romance. It’ll be a family entertainer.”
The director is set to take the film on the floors after the release of his next — the Abhishek Bachchan-Ajay Devgn comic-caper Bol Bachchan — this July. “It will take another seven months to start work on Chennai Express,” says the director, who is yet to finalise the female lead of the film Chennai Express.
Shetty has already begun work on the script of Golmaal 4. “It became the first trilogy in India. No matter what films I’m making, the Golmaal series will continue. The next one will take another year and a half to start work on,” he insists.
Prod him on whether he will rope in the same cast for the fourth installment as well and he says, “I would love to. Every character has created an individual identity. People will not be able to connect to the film if I change them,” says Shetty.
“I am planning a full-fledged action film after I finish the one with Shah Rukh, but it will not be a remake of a southern film,” confirms Shetty, who bagged the Best Director honour for Singham at the Max Stardust Awards earlier this week.
