Kingfisher Airlines suspended by IATA

International Air Transport Association (IATA) recently suspended Kingfisher Airlines. IATA also told to the travel agent affiliates to stop booking tickets for cash-starved airlines, said by industry sources.

"This is because the airline did not settle their ICH (IATA Clearing House) account within the stipulated deadline. Kingfisher's participation in the ICH will be reinstated after the airline fulfills the ICH requirements," said by Albert Tjoeng in an email to Reuters.

Mayawati regins as UP CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday March 7, 2012 tendered her resignation to Governor BL Joshi after facing a rout in the assembly elections.

Mayawati, apparently to avoid waiting news persons, chose to arrive from the back door of the Raj Bhawan.

The Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party captured 224 seats in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly, routing the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress-Rashtriya Lok Dal Alliance.

BSP won 80 seats, BJP 47, Congress 28 and other independent candidates 24.

Blame is mine: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary on Tuesday accepted and take the responsibility for the party's disastrous showing in Uttar Pradesh where he aggressively led the election campaign.

"I fought, so it is my responsibility (for what happened)," Rahul Gandhi told reporters here.

"We fought well but the results are not so good," he said, looking tired but managing a smile now and then.

"I promised to the people of UP that I will be seen with the poor, on the roads and fields."

"My work will continue. My efforts will be to re-erect the Congress in UP."

"One or two reasons are very clear... Organisationally we are not where we should be. And the general mood was for the Samajwadi Party..."

"The Congress fundamentals were weak. Until we set that right, that weakness will not go away."

"Overall our position has improved but it has to be taken forward."

"We have not done well in the whole of UP," he said.

"I view my work as working for the people of this country, trying to improve the political system of this country."

"Certainly I expect to have victories on my way, and defeats. It will be a good lesson for me."
